Sunset on the Mississippi

Summer is in full swing and along with two pageants this year, thousands of guests have come to play with us. We had a record number of guests on Friday, July 11th in Carthage totalling 894! We were exhausted but as one of the YPM's said, "It feels good to be exhausted in the service of the Lord".

Come and play with us! Everything is free and actually excellent quality. When do you know of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to do anything less than first class?

Our son, Adam, and his family came for the pageants this weekend. They came early enough to watch us perform in Sunset By the Mississippi. Below are a few pictures.

The Nauvoo brass band is absolutely amazing!

Believe it or not, the senior missionaries are close behind.
The children decorate hats and then march in a parade with the brass band. They are darling.

Adam and family waiting for the pageant to start. We have only watched one of the pageants so far. Saturday night was cancelled due to rain.
There are plenty of activities in Pioneer Pastimes. In fact, Adam's girls spent the majority of two days playing here.

The YPM's travel around during the day and perform for guests. I can't say enough about how talented they are.

Here is grand daughter, Mia, displaying her stash from the afternoon.
Are these girls cute or what?

Thoughts for the week:

Love is not just a feeling, but a motive for service.

A guest asked me this week if we received pay for our work. When I answered, "no", he wondered if we at least received free room and board. When I said, "no", he wondered if we were sane. I told him probably not, but we certainly were happy.

Elder Broadbent who is in charge of schedules for 250 senior missionaries here in Nauvoo had a plaque on his wall that said, "Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be bent out of shape".
